Fish & Game sponsored clay bird shoots for juniors in the Grey and Hokitika areas this February, March and April. The evenings were run by the Grey and Kokatahi gun clubs at their respective club grounds.
Fish & Game West Coast has sponsored four evening of Clay bird shooting for juniors in the Greymouth and Hokitika Areas with a goal to get junior hunters comfortable with shooting before the upcoming game bird season.
For the second year running Fish & Game West Coast had a stall at the famous Hokitika Wild Foods festival. Staff and councillors served up BBQ pukeko, paradise shelduck salami and provided neighbouring tent holders with brown trout to smoke.
The salmon season is on! Reports are coming in of a few salmon being caught in the usual waterways like the Hokitika River and Lake Mapourika. The fish so far have been in the usual west coast weight range of 3 to 5kg.

Lake Kaniere has received a release of edible size rainbow trout and salmon. About 150 fish where salvaged from the Grey Gun club ponds after the completion of the successful kids fishing days for 2012.
